The Rambling Rebel
I'm sure like the rest of you when I heard the announcment that Cam Akers was headed to FSU I wasn't happy. He's a once in a lifetime players who has more rushing yards in highschool then a lot of quarterbacks. Even with all that I still think this loss won't hurt us as much as it could have, and since you're reading this I should probably give you my reasons to believe.
1. Shea Patterson: Yes his first three starts were shakey to say the least. After a comeback win over Texas A&M we dropped two must win games with a lackluster offense and a suprisingly bad defense. Like the D was so bad I was puking. With all that said I still think Patterson showed a lot of promise. He had some incrdibly accurate throws and was very mobile. Now that he has his scary starts over he can find his grove and continue the Ole Miss sling life.
2. Our Running Game will improve: Last year we lost a lot of depth early in the year because of Jordan Wilkins being suspended for academic reasons and Eric Swinney getting hurt for non academic reasons. Now with those two returning combined with the goat Eugene Brazley and D'Vaughn Pennamon (that name is a nightmare to spell) showing a lot of promise it looks like we'll have a better outing.
3. The offensive line will remain intact: Yes we may have struggled on run blocking this year but with an offensive line that is still playing together they'll have more expirence. Not to mention Greg Little the number 1 offensive lineman two years ago will be coming into his own this year. So I'm predicting a good outing.
4. The studs at WR: Come on we all knew this was gonna be the reason Cam didn't come. This school is Wide reciever U. We throw the ball and we do it well and someone as good as Cam doesn't wanna be on a throwing team. Our wide reciving core is one of the best in the nation and while losing Engram Stringfellow and Quincy sucks we have enough top guys returning that we won't be hurting as much when Cam is prancing about in FSU.
So yes while it hurts that Jimbo will be getting the Mississippi game changing player it's not the end of the world. You can't get mad at someone for doing whats best for them and we'll be just fine without him. Hotty Toddy and happy Holidays
